On April 15, Nebraska Humane Society shared a shocking story of a dog found in a dumpster, its head, tail, and legs wrapped in duct tape. The dog, later named Leo, was discovered by Animal Control after someone heard sounds inside the dumpster, mistaking them for a raccoon.
Staff were horrified by Leo’s condition, with his muzzle, eyes, and paws taped shut, and debris stuck to his fur. Miraculously, Leo was found just in time, as a truck came to empty the dumpster half an hour later.
Leo was taken to the Humane Society, where he was treated and found to be healthy despite mild skin irritation. A microchip revealed he was a lost pet, and his owner, Erin Dillon-Pasillas, had been searching for him. Erin was relieved but emotional about what had happened to her sweet dog.
The Nebraska Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest, as the person responsible remains unknown. Despite the cruelty, Leo is recovering well, and Erin is providing him with love and care.
