Justin Bingham, a 40-year-old tech CEO, has been identified as the man who tragically fell to his d**th while canyoneering in Zion National Park, Utah. His company, Opiniion, where Bingham served as CEO, confirmed his passing in a press release on October 7.

“It is with deep sadness that Opiniion announces the passing of our CEO, Justin Bingham. Justin was involved in a tragic accident while enjoying one of his greatest passions—exploring the outdoors. Despite the best efforts of over 50 team members of various rescue teams, he passed away on the night of Saturday, Oct 5, 2024.”

The statement continued, “Justin was a visionary who believed in the power of genuine connections, both with our clients and within our team. His commitment to building meaningful relationships made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Justin’s spirit of adventure and dedication to living life fully will be deeply missed.”

The National Park Service created a press statement about Bingham, that he had d**d following an accidental fall while canyoneering near the exit of Heaps Canyon in Zion National Park on October 5, 2024. He was  part of a group of four canyoneers, he fell between 150 and 200 feet at around 6 p.m. while following their permitted route through Heaps Canyon.

Upon receiving the report of the fall, Zion National Park’s Technical Search and Rescue Team, along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene and administered emergency medical care. Bingham was airlifted by a Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter to a helispot near Watchman Campground, where additional aid was provided by Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue and Intermountain Life Flight. Sadly, he was pronounced d**d before he could be transported to the hospital by air ambulance.

The morning of October 6, two of the remaining canyoneers were safely extracted by DPS helicopter, while Zion’s search and rescue team assisted the third in rappelling down the canyon, reaching safety around 2 p.m.

Zion National Park and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding Bingham’s d**th.
