Even as legal troubles mounted—including three other indictments—Trump remained undeterred. In May 2024, he was convicted in New York on 34 felony counts related to business records. Yet, just ten days before his second inauguration, a judge sentenced him to “unconditional discharge.” No penalties. No delays.

In a stunning break from tradition, Trump used his booking photo as inspiration for his second official White House portrait. Gone was the warm, dignified pose of past presidents.
Instead, he adopted the same furrowed brow, intense stare, and angled expression from his mug shot. The message was loud and clear: he’s not backing down.

Now framed inside the White House, the image sits near the likes of Washington and FDR. Whether admired or criticized, Trump’s mug shot has become part of the presidency—and his permanent legacy.
