New Bill Could Significantly Restrict Women’s Access to Abortion if Passed

It will be necessary for the bill to be approved by the Senate.

 

If it were to become law in the United States, a recently proposed bill would make it illegal for any woman to have an abortion.

 

As a result of Donald Trump’s return to the White House, the political landscape in the United States is currently undergoing a significant amount of reform.

 

Now, Republican Representative Eric Burlison of Missouri has proposed a whole new plan, and if it were to be approved, it would have significant implications for healthcare in the rest of the United States.

 

As a result of the Life at Conception Act, which establishes that unborn children are “persons” in accordance with the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America, “their right to life can be legally recognised and protected,” as stated by the statute.

 

On Facebook, Congressman Burlison made the following statement regarding the matter: “I am proud to introduce the Life at Conception Act, which reaffirms the original intent of the 14th Amendment by declaring that the term ‘person’ includes all human beings from the moment of conception.”

 

“It is a scientific fact that life begins at conception.”

 

 

 

 

In addition, Congressman Burlison stated in a news statement that “every life is a sacred gift from God, deserving of dignity and protection from the moment of conception.” Our moral and legal commitment to protect the lives of the unborn is realised through the implementation of the Life at Conception Act, which makes use of the constitutional authority that Congress possesses to define personhood.

 

According to the press release, the amendment provides the following: “No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”

 

On top of that, Burlison stated, “I am a staunch supporter of life and will never stop fighting to safeguard the lives of the unborn.” It is unmistakable that I have constantly voted to safeguard the well-being of the mother and the life of the child, both in the state of Missouri and in the nation’s capital of Washington, District of Columbia. This is something that I will continue to do going forward.

 

 

 

 

In spite of the fact that officials are working hard to get the measure passed, the possible consequences of a ban on abortion could cause issues throughout the entire healthcare system.

 

Abortion restrictions have been connected to delays in medical assistance for women who have miscarried, and there is also a connection between these restrictions and deaths that occur in cases of pregnancies that are considered to be high risk.

 

There have also been studies that have revealed that abortion prohibitions can have an effect on the quality of care, not only for women but even for men.

 

In order for the bill to be able to move on to the Senate, it would require a majority of votes (218 out of 435), which would be required for it to be passed.

 

If the law is to be passed, it needs to receive 51 votes out of a possible 100.
