Fans even pointed out her choice of flat shoes, which is unusual for the famously fashion-conscious First Lady. But during Thursday’s speech, there was no doubt: Melania was front and center, facing the cameras.

The event, held at the White House to honor “military mothers,” began with Donald Trump praising his wife.
“I especially want to thank one of the best moms I know,” he said. “She’s so good with Barron. He’s grown up strong and nice — you’ve done a great job.”
Melania then took the mic and spoke about motherhood.
“It’s a life-changing event that makes women invincible and exposed at the same time,” she said. “Even now, my son’s life brings me unpredictable concerns and thrills.”
With a playful smile, she added, “Nothing against fathers, of course, but I think — and I’m sure everyone here agrees — only a mother can truly grasp this.”
Cameras caught Donald Trump grinning at her comment, clearly amused.
