The Vance family was praised by more internet commentators as “lovely,” and another user extolled the virtues of the children’s beauty. Seeing how exhausted the children appeared after a hard day, yet still adorable, one viewer felt sympathy for them. JD’s family received genuine blessings from another, who wished his wife and children happiness.

Another person was thrilled to have a young family in the White House, pointing out that the Vances’ friendly and charming demeanor was enhanced by relatable moments such as the youngest son holding his teddy bear and the daughter taking solace in her parents’ arms.

Guards led J.D.’s mother and children out of the U.S. Capitol following the ceremony. While their sister was being carried, each brother walked with a guard.

These inauguration moments highlight J.D.’s ability to strike a balance between his personal and professional responsibilities, which has always captivated the audience. The story of the family is further complicated by the fact that his wife, Usha, was raised by Indian immigrant parents in a middle-class neighborhood in San Diego.

When J.D. announced the birth of his only daughter, Mirabel, in December 2021, he referred to her as an “early Christmas present” and a beloved family member.

Similarly, journalist Megyn Kelly spread the word on social media in June 2017 about the couple’s son, Ewan Blaine, who had just been born.

Although the precise date of their second son Vivek’s birth has not been made public, J.D. described a touching fishing trip in Michigan with his four-year-old son in October 2024.

He said, “We have such young kids—seven, four, and two—can I bring my son out with me or bring one of them out with me? And so, you know, we did the whole hotel thing. He got to watch a movie; he got to, like, eat a lot of junk food that mom wouldn’t normally let him eat.”

When one of the podcast hosts asked about one of J.D.’s son’s sleeping positions, J.D. shared, “We have a king-sized bed, I’m on one little corner of it, and he still finds some way to sleep with; it’s like a foot in my neck last night. So, if I’m a little underslept this morning, it’s because of that.”

Their story, which combines his new national duty with his personal life, continues to enthrall the public as J.D. starts his term as vice president.
