Ivanka Trump’s Role as an Advisor

Ivanka Trump served as an advisor to her father, Donald Trump, during his first term as President of the United States. As his only daughter, Ivanka held the position of Director of the Office of Economic Initiatives and Entrepreneurship. In this role, she focused on education and economic empowerment for women and families, along with job creation and economic growth through workforce development, skills training, and entrepreneurship.

Stepping Away from Politics

As Trump prepared for his second term in office, it became clear that Ivanka would not return. She confirmed this decision in 2022 when her father announced his third presidential run. During an appearance on the Him & Her Show in January, Ivanka explained her reasons for stepping away.

“I love policy and impact. I hate politics. And unfortunately, the two are not separable,” she said. “There is a darkness to that world that I don’t want to welcome into mine.”

Family Comes First

Ivanka explained that her main reason for leaving politics was to protect her family. “I know the cost, and it’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear,” she said.

Looking ahead to her father’s presidency, Ivanka expressed her desire to support him as a daughter rather than an advisor. “I’m most looking forward to just being able to show up for him as a daughter, to take his mind off things, watch a movie, or a sports game,” she shared. “I want him to be able to relax and just be himself.”

The Loneliness of the Presidency

Ivanka also described the presidency as “the world’s loneliest position.” She explained the weight of daily decisions, saying, “The enormity of the decisions you’re making… it’s a very lonely perch.”
