If you discover these creepy-looking insects in your house, here’s what they signify.

Tired of Creepy Crawlies?

Are you fed up with creepy crawlies invading your home? While bugs are common, some are less welcome than others. If you live in a rural area, you probably know the struggle of dealing with flies, ants, and spiders trying to take over your space during summer and beyond.

The Earwig Dilemma

For many, this annual bug invasion is just an annoyance. Spiders spinning webs in corners or a fly buzzing in the kitchen may not ruin your day. However, one insect many people can’t stand is the earwig.

Understanding Earwigs

You may have spotted an earwig in your home without realizing it. These insects aren’t cute, but they’re harmless. Still, most people prefer not to have a swarm of them crawling around. If you’re among this group, here’s a helpful hack to eliminate them.

A Proven Solution

Facebook user Alicia Alexander shared an effective method for dealing with earwigs. She recommends filling a shallow bowl with half a cup of olive oil and placing it in your backyard or on your deck. This method attracts earwigs, trapping them in the bowl.

Alicia reported great success with this approach. Within 24 hours, she caught a significant number of earwigs. Check out the picture she shared!

Check Your Surroundings

After 36 hours, the bowl looked just as full!

Don’t panic if you find earwigs in your house; it’s normal and generally harmless. However, an unusually large number of earwigs may signal an issue with rotting wood. These insects love wood rot, so inspect any wooden structures around your home.

Try the Hack!

Now you have a simple hack to deal with earwigs. Give it a try, and let us know in the comments if it works for you!
