How To Clean Wax From Carpet

There are certain spills and issues that seem next to impossible to clean up. If you are the sort of person who burns candles on a regular basis, this is something that you can definitely relate to.

When candles are knocked to the floor, it can be hard to remove the melted wax from the carpet. In most cases, it can seem almost impossible.

We are not always lucky enough to spill candle wax on our tile or hardwood floors. It seems like we are always spilling it on the carpet. Fortunately, there are some highly effective methods for removing the candle wax from the carpets before it has a chance to become a far more unsightly long-term problem.

For starters, the wax can actually be frozen, according to the Clean home Guide. For best results, this hack will need to take place as soon as possible after the spill.

A bag of frozen vegetables or ice can be placed on the wax for a period of 10 to 15 minutes when you’re ready to get started. A layer of paper towel should be placed between the ice and the candle wax to keep the carpet from inevitably getting soaked.

As soon as the wax is frozen, it is time to scrape it up. A butter knife typically works best in these instances. Be sure not to scrape up the carpet too much during the process, as this is a common mistake.

No, you will not be able to scrape up all of the wax in one fell swoop but not to worry! There is another step that is taken to ensure better clean-up.

At this point, the vacuum is broken out. If additional steps are needed, you’ll have to heat the wax. Take a moment to place a paper towel or a clean, old towel on top of the wax spot in question. From there, grab the iron and put it on a low setting. Keep the steam button off and run it back and forth over the wax. Check the towel’s underside and make sure that the wax is transferring. Hairdryers also work well in these instances.

The last resort for those who cannot remove the wax is to use an actual carpet cleaner. One thing is for sure: One of these hacks has to work for you! Best of luck when it comes time to remove the wax from your carpet.
