Donald Trump makes dig at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with brutal new nickname

Trump vs. Trudeau: A New Battle Begins

President Donald Trump has made a bold move, taking aim at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. This time, he’s introduced a new nickname for Trudeau, fueling a fresh round of tension between the two leaders.

Trump’s Busy Week

It’s been a tumultuous week for Trump. After a fiery exchange with President Zelenskyy, renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, banning gender transitions for minors, and ending birthright citizenship, Trump has stirred up further controversy with new tariffs.

The Tariffs Take Effect

Starting February 4, Trump’s new executive order slapped a 25% tariff on all imports from Canada. Canadian energy products are also hit with a 10% tariff.

The White House justified these actions as a response to illegal immigration and drug trafficking. They claim the tariffs are meant to hold Canada, Mexico, and China accountable.

Retaliation from Canada

In retaliation, Trudeau announced that Canada would impose a 25% tariff on U.S. imports. This tit-for-tat escalation is growing tense. However, things took a dramatic turn when Trump posted on Truth Social.

A New Nickname for Trudeau

Trump referred to Trudeau as “Governor” instead of “Prime Minister,” a move many see as an attempt to undermine his leadership. The president’s words were sharp: “Please explain to Governor Trudeau that when he puts on a retaliatory tariff on the U.S., our reciprocal tariff will immediately increase by a like amount!”

Trudeau’s Response

Trudeau has been vocal about his disapproval of the tariffs. He called the move a trade war and criticized Trump’s stance on Russia, calling it illogical. Trudeau also emphasized that there’s no justification for the tariffs.

In a pointed remark, he accused Trump of seeking to collapse the Canadian economy for easier annexation.

China Responds with Threats

China, facing its own 20% tariffs, also responded strongly. A spokesperson warned the U.S. not to push too far: “If the United States persists in waging a tariff war, the Chinese side will fight them to the bitter end.” China’s finance ministry further criticized the unilateral tariffs, calling them damaging to the global trade system.

This growing global conflict highlights the high stakes in the ongoing trade wars.
