Dad and twin sons cut enough firewood to fill 80 trucks – donate it all to those who need it most

Heartwarming Acts of Kindness

Sometimes, a simple act melts your heart. You know the kind—stories where people go the extra mile, or do something kind without expecting anything in return.

The Reward of Good Deeds

Kindness often rewards itself in the joy it brings to your soul. But recognizing those who genuinely make the world better is always uplifting.

A Family Tradition of Giving

Shane McDaniel and his twin sons, Henry and Harrison, are perfect examples. Shane grew up helping his father harvest firewood, a tradition he wanted his 21-year-old sons to continue.

Storm Leads to Inspiration

After a heavy storm hit their hometown of Lake Stevens, Washington, Shane had a massive amount of wood to clear. “It kept piling up,” Shane shared. “We realized we could do something better with it.”

A Plan to Give Back

The family came up with a plan to clear the wood while helping others. “The Pacific Northwest is cold and wet,” Shane told PEOPLE Magazine. “So many people needed firewood, so we just started giving it away.”

An Outpouring of Support

From March to October 2018, Shane, Henry, and Harrison chopped enough firewood to fill 80 trucks. Shane’s Facebook post asking for people to come collect firewood caught plenty of attention. People were moved by the family’s generosity, and some even volunteered to help distribute the wood to those unable to pick it up.

The Joy of Helping Others

“It’s wonderful to see,” Shane said. “You can feel the pride and sharing. When you do good things for people, they don’t forget. I love helping others.”

A Community United

Shane, Henry, and Harrison’s story shows how a family’s kindness can impact an entire community. If their actions inspire you, share this story on Facebook to give them the praise they deserve!
