Barbra Streisand and her husband, James Brolin, are celebrating 26 years of marriage in the home that finally fulfilled their dreams. The couple, along with their beloved Maltese poodles, Scarlet, Violet, and Fanny, have lived in the Malibu property for decades. However, the journey to owning this dream home was far from simple—it took Streisand 11 years to purchase it.

Streisand first spotted the home in 1984 while staying on a nearby ranch. At the time, she couldn’t buy it. Her boyfriend didn’t like it, and the property was out of her financial reach. Despite this, the house left a lasting impression, and she never stopped thinking about it.

Persistence Pays Off
Over the years, Streisand remained determined. She even bought a neighboring property to stay close to her dream house. When the owners of the home she loved decided to move, she seized the opportunity. Finally, in 1995, Streisand purchased the house and turned it into the family sanctuary she had envisioned.

A Home Filled with Memories
The beachfront estate spans three acres and includes four buildings: the main house, a barn, a mill house, and Grandma’s house. Streisand designed the interiors with care, drawing inspiration from her travels and favorite books. She incorporated water features, a fish pond, a rose garden, and even hens that lay green eggs—creating a tranquil, spiritual retreat.

For nearly 30 years, the home has witnessed countless joyful moments. It has been the backdrop for the couple’s family life, blending children from previous marriages, and now, welcoming grandchildren. Streisand and Brolin have filled the space with warmth, love, and careful attention to detail, making it a true family haven.

Love That Endures
The couple met in 1996, marrying two years later on Streisand’s property. Brolin famously said in his wedding speech, “Every night is a new adventure. Sleeping is a waste of time. I can’t wait to see her again in the morning.” Their love has only deepened over time, even surviving the challenges of the COVID-19 lockdown. Streisand reflected, “We’ve literally fallen in love over this period of time, just being stuck together every day and making it work.”

Today, Streisand calls Brolin the love of her life. With all their children grown and the grandchildren visiting often, the couple now enjoys a new chapter in their lives—grandparenthood—while still cherishing the home that brought them so much happiness.
