A foster child in Oklahoma created a wish list.

Supporting Abused Children

Dreamcatchers for Abused Children is an organization focused on helping children who have suffered abuse within their families. Recently, they shared a moving story about a young boy that resonated globally.

Finding Safety and Support

Often, these children face removal from their homes due to parental mistreatment. They are then placed in safe environments where they receive aid, guidance, and compassion.

The organization strives to ensure these children feel safe and supported. They offer various programs, including therapy sessions, recreational activities, nutrition plans, and tailored housing assistance.

Providing Resources and Care

Additionally, Dreamcatchers offers counseling services and emotional support. They provide resources to help reunite families and assist children in coping with their trauma.

Through their outreach and fundraising efforts, the organization aims to raise awareness about the challenges these children face. They work tirelessly to help young abuse victims heal and envision a brighter future.

A Chance for a New Life

One young boy from Oklahoma experienced severe neglect at the hands of his alcoholic parents. After neighbors alerted authorities, he entered the care of Dreamcatchers for Abused Children. Rather than staying in an abusive environment, the organization ensured he would find a loving adoptive family.

In a heartfelt letter to his new family, he expressed his hopes for unconditional love, safety, and the essentials every child deserves. He longed to reclaim the joys of childhood that had previously eluded him.

A Loving Home

Dreamcatchers quickly found a suitable adoptive family for the boy. They embraced him warmly, providing the security he had never known.

His new family offered the love and support necessary for him to heal from his traumatic past. In this nurturing environment, he formed strong emotional bonds and finally experienced the warmth of being part of a loving family.

Remembering Foster Children’s Wishes

A foster child’s desires remind us of the importance of compassion. We must acknowledge their struggles and extend our support.

The boy articulated his dreams clearly:

“I want to live in a house with food; a safe home with electricity and running water; love, understanding, and support from family members without fear of physical abuse; a drug-free environment; a place that doesn’t hit their pets; help with homework and clean clothing; no bugs inside the house so that everyone can enjoy it.”

These wishes reflect a child’s fundamental right to safety and security. Every child deserves access to the essentials of life.
