Six Generations of Women in One Heartwarming Photo
A viral photo has captured the hearts of many, showing six generations of women from one family. The incredible image features 99-year-old MaeDell Taylor Hawkins, holding her great-great-great-granddaughter, Zhavia Whitaker, while five other women pose behind them.
Family Bond Across Generations
MaeDell is surrounded by her daughter Frances Snow, 77, granddaughter Gracie Snow Howell, 58, great-granddaughter Jacqueline Ledford, 29, and great-great-granddaughter Jaisline Wilson, 19. MaeDell has more than 620 descendants, including children, grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A Rare and Special Moment
Gracie Snow Howell, MaeDell’s granddaughter, shared with Good Morning America, “It’s rare for six generations, but it’s even rarer for all of them to be women. We’re all girls—girl power!”
Unexpected Fame
The family didn’t anticipate the photo’s popularity when they took it. Howell, who now lives in Myrtle Beach, recalled, “We just planned a day to meet up. Grandma knew we were coming.”
MaeDell’s Early Years and Growing Family
MaeDell married at 16 in 1940 to 50-year-old Bill Taylor, a rail worker with 10 children. They had 13 children together. The family lived simply, without electricity or running water. Howell commented, “Back then, young marriages were common. Now, families are smaller. Having six generations is extremely rare.”
A Growing Legacy
MaeDell now has 623 descendants, including 106 grandchildren, 222 great-grandchildren, 234 great-great-grandchildren, and 37 great-great-great-grandchildren. The family plans to reunite in June for another photo, hoping to capture even more generations.
