Kiefer Sutherland Arrested After Late-Night Uber Altercation
Kiefer Sutherland’s late-night Uber ride ended behind bars. The 59-year-old actor was arrested in Los Angeles this week after a scuffle with his ride-share driver.
The incident occurred after Sutherland met a friend for dinner and called for an Uber Black late Sunday night.
The Altercation
Officials say Sutherland repeatedly asked the driver to pull over. When the driver refused, the actor allegedly threatened to end the driver’s life. Around 12:15 a.m., the driver called 911, reporting physical aggression near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue.
Police arrived quickly and confirmed that Sutherland had assaulted the driver and made criminal threats. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain injuries.
Language Barrier and Cooperation
TMZ reported the driver may have spoken Russian or Armenian and requested a translator. Police arranged for someone fluent in the language to assist.
Sutherland reportedly cooperated with authorities. He was booked on felony charges for making a criminal threat, held in custody shortly after 4 a.m., and released about seven hours later on $50,000 bail. He is due in court on February 2.
Past Legal Troubles
This is not Sutherland’s first run-in with the law. In 2007, he served 48 days in jail for driving under the influence and violating probation. In 2009, he was arrested for assaulting fashion designer Jack McCullough at a nightclub following an incident involving Brooke Shields.
Public Reaction
The actor’s latest incident sparked a flurry of online comments. Some compared him to his iconic “24” character, joking that he was “going method” for the role. Others expressed concern, asking why he threatened the driver and whether more details would emerge.
What Happens Next
Sutherland now faces legal proceedings for the alleged assault and criminal threats. The Los Angeles Police Department continues to review the case, while the public waits for further updates.
