Trump warns of possible impeachment if Republicans lose the midterms

Trump’s Midterm Warning to Republicans

President Donald Trump warned House Republicans that losing control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections could open the door to new impeachment efforts by Democrats.
Speaking at a Republican retreat in Washington, Trump stressed the importance of winning the elections. He told members that without a GOP majority, Democrats would “find a reason to impeach me.”

Additionally, Trump urged unity and a focus on key issues as Republicans prepare for November’s contests.

High Stakes in the House

Currently, Republicans hold a slim majority in the House of Representatives. Trump emphasized that keeping control of Congress is vital not just for policy, but for his political future.

He repeatedly warned lawmakers that a defeat in the midterms would give Democrats the power to pursue impeachment proceedings. “I’ll get impeached,” he said, according to multiple reports.

What Trump Told Lawmakers

Speaking to GOP legislators at a retreat, Trump framed the elections as a test of political survival. He called on them to sell Republican policy and stay united.

Trump’s remarks came amid broader concerns about public sentiment, with polling showing challenges for the president’s party in midterm cycles.

The Impeachment Context

Trump has already faced impeachment twice in the past—once over Ukraine‑related actions and once after the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot. In both cases, the Senate acquitted him.

Democrats have also voiced calls for impeachment over more recent issues, including controversial military actions.

Election Strategy and Challenges

Beyond impeachment fears, Trump is pushing Republicans to campaign aggressively on issues like gender policy, healthcare reform, and election integrity to win over voters.

Despite challenges, Trump expressed confidence that Republicans can secure victory, even as the party navigates internal divisions and public dissatisfaction on issues like the economy.
