Who Is John Wakefield?

John Wakefield is Pam Bondi’s long‑time partner. He is a founding principal of Varner Wakefield Equity Partners, a private equity firm that focuses on real estate investments. Before founding his firm, he worked in banking and later held a corporate strategy role at Lykes Bros. Inc. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of Charleston and an international business degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Their Relationship

Bondi and Wakefield’s relationship has been public since 2017, when she posted a selfie of them at a Bruno Mars concert.  Since then, both have occasionally shared moments together on Instagram, including trips and celebrations. Wakefield stood beside Bondi during her swearing‑in as U.S. Attorney General in February 2025.  Notably, former President Donald Trump referred to him as her “very handsome husband.” However, neither Bondi nor Wakefield has publicly confirmed that they are married.

Family Life

Wakefield has three children, according to his Instagram bio, where he refers to them playfully as his “three monster children … roaming the world.” Bondi does not have biological children. The kids appear to be from a prior relationship of his, not with Bondi.

Bondi’s Past Relationships

Before Wakefield, Bondi was engaged to ophthalmologist Greg Henderson in 2012. The wedding was called off, and by 2015 they reportedly split. Previously, she was married twice: first to Garret Barnes (1990–1992) and then to Scott Fitzgerald (1996–2002).

Although Bondi and Wakefield appear together frequently in high‑profile settings, they maintain a private personal life. Their relationship seems deeply supportive, but the exact legal status of their union—engaged, married, or domestic partners—remains unclarified by both.
