Vintage footage of Robin Williams making a powerful point about Trump goes viral

Robin Williams’ Old Trump Clip Resurfaces — And Fans Say He Was “Ahead of His Time”

A resurfaced clip of the late Robin Williams mocking Donald Trump during a 2012 stand-up performance is going viral—and viewers are calling it “eerily accurate” and “kind of profound.”

A Legend Remembered

Robin Williams, known for his rapid-fire wit and beloved roles in Mrs. DoubtfireGood Will Hunting, and Aladdin, left a lasting legacy when he tragically d**d by su**ide in 2014 at age 63. Over his decades-long career, he won numerous awards, including an Oscar, multiple Golden Globes, and Grammys.

Before becoming a movie icon, Williams began in stand-up comedy in the mid-1970s. Now, more than a decade after one of his shows, his words are resonating again.

Williams on Trump: “A Scary Man”

The viral clip, recorded in 2012, shows Williams riffing on a Thanksgiving trip to Atlantic City. He compared it to “The Wizard of Oz on acid,” filled with “junkies, pimps, and pizza, oh my!” Then he turned his attention to Donald Trump:

“Donald Trump is the Wizard of Oz. He plays Monopoly with real f**king buildings. This is a scary man.”

At the time, Trump was still best known as a real estate mogul. He had launched several casinos in Atlantic City—Trump Plaza, Trump’s Castle, and the Trump Taj Mahal. All would eventually struggle or close.

Pageants and Pet Stores?

Williams didn’t stop there. He joked about Trump’s ownership of beauty pageants:

“He owns all these beauty pageants—Miss America, Miss Universe. Isn’t that a bit like Michael Vick owning a series of pet stores?”

(Vick, a former NFL quarterback, had been convicted in a dogfighting case in 2007 and served prison time.)

Mocking the Hair and Comments About Ivanka

The comedian also mocked Trump’s infamous hairstyle, claiming:

“I believe the hair is the Donald. The body is just the maintenance system.”

He also jabbed at Trump’s controversial comments about his daughter Ivanka:

“Even people in Arkansas went, ‘That’s f**king wrong.’”

Fans React: “He Is Missed”

Fans flocked to social media to praise the clip, many saying Williams “nailed it” years before Trump entered politics. One Reddit user called it “kind of profound,” while others expressed how deeply they still miss the comedian.

“One of the funniest, most endearing humans to ever exist,” one fan wrote.
“He will always be missed—and forever remembered for generations,” added another.

I covered $6 in groceries for a mom with a baby, and the next day my manager called me into his office holding an envelope. I’m 40 years old and work as a cashier in a small neighborhood supermarket. When you sit at a register long enough, you start to read people without even trying. You spot the ones in a rush, the lonely regulars who just want a bit of conversation, and the parents who smile at their kids while silently doing math in their heads over every item they scan. It was close to 11 p.m., almost closing time, when a woman came up to my checkout. She was holding a sleeping infant against her chest, and the exhaustion on her face said everything before she even spoke. Her shopping cart was almost empty. She set down a loaf of bread, a carton of eggs, a gallon of milk, and one pack of baby formula. I rang everything up and told her the total. She pulled all the cash out of her wallet, flattening each bill with shaking hands. Then she checked one pocket… then another… and another. Finally, in a small, embarrassed voice, she said, “I’m six dollars short… I’m so sorry, could you please take the formula off?” I didn’t even think about it. I reached into my own pocket and said, “I’ve got it. Keep everything.” Her eyes filled with tears. She thanked me, held her baby a little closer, and walked out with her groceries. The next morning, just as I’d settled in at my register, I heard my name over the store intercom in a tense voice: “Laura, please come to the manager’s office. It’s urgent.” My stomach dropped. As I walked to his office, I kept replaying last night, wondering if helping that woman had somehow broken a rule. When I stepped in, he looked at me and asked, “Did you pay for a customer’s groceries last night?” I froze. “Yes… I did,” I answered. He sighed, reached into his desk drawer, and pulled out an envelope. “This was left here for you this morning,” he said. Puzzled, I took it and carefully opened it. Inside was a handwritten letter, written in a script I didn’t recognize. By the time I reached the last line, a shiver ran down my spine. AND WHEN I FINISHED READING IT, MY BLOOD RAN COLD. ⬇️

The envelope was small, plain, and shaking in her hands. One act of kindness. Six crumpled dollars. A tired mom with a sleeping baby. By morning, the…
