It’s not uncommon for a television show to have a spin-off or a sequel series, but many shows have several. There are numerous beloved shows that have essentially created entire universes with the number of additional shows that have evolved from their initial concepts and characters.
Law & Order is an obvious show with offshoots that have been around for decades while Star Trek‘s initial run seems like an unlikely origin for the dozen spin-offs that exist. Many shows that seem like stand-alone series are actually spin-offs that turned around and produced spin-offs of their own.
The shows with the most spin-offs make it clear that Hollywood is always willing to find ways to eek just a bit more out of a much-loved property. They also highlight both how committed viewers can be when they enjoy a program and the idea behind it.
