Tucson pizzeria under fire for posting a divisive message

Controversial Sign Sparks Debate

A Tucson pizza shop, Rocco’s Little Chicago, is igniting a heated debate after its bold sign went viral on social media. The message, “All law enforcement officials do not enter without a lawful search warrant,” has divided public opinion, drawing both support and backlash.

A Personal Stance or Anti-Police?

Owner Rocco DiGrazia explains that the sign is not meant to be personal or anti-police. He says it’s a response to increasing unofficial visits from law enforcement. DiGrazia points out that his father, a 33-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, taught him to appreciate the presence of officers in the restaurant.

“We’ve had seven officers here in uniform eating today, and I expect the same tomorrow,” DiGrazia tells 13 News. “Cops know where to eat.”

Backlash and Boycotts

Despite DiGrazia’s explanation, the sign has sparked outrage online, with some customers threatening to boycott the restaurant. One commenter wrote, “I will not support a business that doesn’t support our law enforcement. #boycottroccos.”

However, DiGrazia brushes off the criticism, calling it “low-hanging fruit” and dismissing it as part of today’s social media culture. “I’ll respond to these people, and either it’ll go away or not, but I think business will be fine,” he says confidently.

Law Enforcement Still Welcomes

Despite the controversy, DiGrazia notes that law enforcement continues to frequent the restaurant without issue. “This sign has been up for two months, and I haven’t seen a pause in law enforcement eating here. They seem to understand it,” he says.

What’s Your Take?
