Trump Calls Vance-Rubio Ticket “Unstoppable” for 2028
President Donald Trump praised a potential 2028 ticket of Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, calling it “unstoppable.” He made the comments aboard Air Force One during a flight from Malaysia to Japan. However, he did not give a clear answer on whether he plans to pursue a third term—a move barred by the Twenty-second Amendment.
Trump Reflects on Third-Term Speculation
“I haven’t really thought about it,” Trump said when asked about running again. “We have some very good people, as you know, but I have the best poll numbers I’ve ever had. I just solved eight wars, and a ninth might be coming. I believe Russia–Ukraine will happen.”
Highlighting Diplomatic Success in Asia
Trump highlighted his role in brokering a peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand during the first leg of his Asia trip in Kuala Lumpur. “Thousands of people were already shot at the border. When you look at what we just did, it was pretty amazing. We got a lot of credit,” he said.
He also thanked Malaysia for its support. “The Prime Minister and everybody really helped get the two countries together,” Trump added.
Naming “Very Good People” for 2028
When pressed about the “very good people” he referenced, Trump named Vance and Rubio.
“We have JD, obviously—the vice president is great,” he said, as Rubio nodded in agreement behind him. “Marco is great… I’m not sure if anybody would run against those two. If they ever formed a group, it would be unstoppable. I really do believe that.”
Trump added, “I would love to do it. I have my best numbers ever.”
