Trump Demands Investigations After New Polls Drop
Donald Trump has called for investigations into major news outlets after polls revealed troubling approval ratings just before his 100th day back in the White House.
Approaching the 100-Day Milestone
After winning the 2024 presidential election, Trump will hit his 100-day mark tomorrow (April 29).
In the lead-up, ABC News, The Washington Post, and The New York Times surveyed Americans to gauge their views on Trump’s performance.
A Busy — and Divisive — Return to Power
Since returning to office, Trump has signed controversial orders affecting sports, education, and history, while also introducing new tariffs.
But how have these moves resonated with the public?
According to the latest polls, not very well.
Poll Numbers Paint a Grim Picture
An ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll found Trump holding the lowest 100-day job approval rating in 80 years.
A whopping 55% of respondents disapproved of his leadership.
Meanwhile, a New York Times/Siena College poll showed only 42% approval, with 66% of participants labeling his second term as “chaotic.”
Trump Fires Back on Truth Social
In response, Trump blasted the polls as “fake news” on Truth Social.
He cited pollster John McLaughlin, who criticized the methodology, noting that The Times included only 37% Trump 2024 voters and the ABC/Washington Post poll just 34%.
“Didn’t we win the popular vote with 50%?” McLaughlin asked on Twitter.
Trump Doubles Down on Fraud Claims
Trump echoed McLaughlin’s criticism, slamming the polls as “FAKE” and accusing the media of manipulating the numbers to damage him.
“These polls should be investigated for election fraud,” Trump wrote.
He called the pollsters “Negative Criminals” who “cheat and lie for the next cycle, only worse.”
Continuing His War on the Media
Trump didn’t hold back, claiming that the media suffers from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and branding them “THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE.”
He vowed to keep fighting:
“I wish them well, but will continue to fight to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
How the Polls Were Conducted
The New York Times explained that its poll surveyed 913 registered voters, adjusting results to reflect the full voting population.
Meanwhile, the ABC/Washington Post poll sampled 2,464 adults nationwide, maintaining a balanced partisan breakdown among Democrats, Republicans, and independents.
