Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again sparked controversy by sharing an unfounded conspiracy theory on social media.
The 78-year-old Republican, who has a long history of promoting misinformation—including the baseless claims that the 2020 election was “rigged” and that Barack Obama wasn’t born in the U.S.—is now under fire for endorsing a bizarre theory suggesting President Joe Biden d!ed in 2020 and has since been replaced by clones.
The post Trump shared originally came from a pro-Trump social media account.
It claimed: “There is no #JoeBiden – executed in 2020.” The message went further, alleging that Democrats have failed to realize that “robotic engineered soulless mindless entities” have been impersonating the president since then.
The post read in full: “#Biden clones, doubles & robotic engineered soulless mindless entities are what you see. >#Democrats don’t know the difference.”
Trump reshared this message on June 1 with his nearly 10 million followers on Truth Social, the platform he launched in 2022 following his bans from mainstream social media sites.
Unsurprisingly, Trump’s decision to circulate such a conspiracy drew widespread criticism.
One user on social media wrote: “Just think about how far our political standards have fallen—the former president is out here posting QAnon-level nonsense again.”
They continued: “This isn’t the exception anymore. Trump consistently uses his platform to share ridiculous internet conspiracies.”
Another person commented sarcastically, “Your president, America,” while someone else lamented, “I really don’t know how we come back from this political climate. Jesus wept…”
A separate commenter added, “So this is what qualifies as presidential behavior now,” and another recalled, “There was a time when something like this would have ended a politician’s career.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has promoted fringe theories online, but the reaction to this particular post was especially strong due to its outlandish nature and implications.
The timing of Trump’s post also raised eyebrows, as it came just weeks after President Biden’s office confirmed that the 82-year-old leader had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate can:cer.
According to a statement released on May 18, Biden had recently undergone evaluation for urinary issues, which led doctors to identify a prostate nodule.
Following further investigation, the president was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9, indicating a high-grade, fast-growing form of the disease.
Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, the statement added that the cancer is hormone-sensitive, meaning it can be treated with hormone therapy and managed effectively. Biden’s medical team is reportedly exploring the best options for treatment, and the president and his family are involved in those decisions.
For context, Cancer Research UK explains that a Gleason score of nine suggests the cancer cells are highly abnormal and are likely to spread quickly. It is among the more dangerous classifications of prostate cancer.
While President Biden focuses on his health and treatment options, Trump’s social media antics continue to draw both attention and concern. His amplification of conspiracy theories not only fuels misinformation but also deepens political division at a time when public trust in government and media remains fragile.
