Trump Faces Backlash for ‘Misogynistic’ Reply to Female Reporter’s Question

Trump Criticized for ‘Misogynistic’ Remark Toward Female Reporter

Former President Donald Trump is once again under fire—this time for a ‘misogynistic’ comment directed at a female journalist during a White House press event.

The Question That Sparked Backlash

When asked by the reporter, “What role do you see for the United States as China defends its presence in Latin America?” Trump turned to Vice President JD Vance and said, “I just like to watch her talk.”

He then added to the journalist, “Good job. Thank you, darling.”

The exchange quickly drew sharp criticism online, with many calling his words patronizing and sexist.

A Pattern of Offensive Remarks

Trump’s latest comment adds to his long history of crude and sexist remarks. He infamously claimed in a 2005 recording that he could “do whatever [he wanted], including grabbing [women] by the p***.”*

Over the years, Trump has made disparaging comments about Miss Universe contestantsKamala HarrisHillary ClintonNancy PelosiRosie O’DonnellThe Apprentice contestants, and even his own daughter.

History Repeats Itself

It’s not the first time Trump has targeted women in media. In 2017, he interrupted a diplomatic call with Ireland’s then–Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to call RTE presenter Caitriona Perry to his desk, remarking on her appearance.

Just last week, Trump made another sarcastic comment about White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, saying:

“That face… and those lips. They move like a machine gun, right?”

He made a similar remark about her in August.

Sexist Insults Beyond Politics

Trump has often directed his insults outside the political sphere as well. He mocked Arianna Huffington’s divorce, calling her “unattractive both inside and out.”

He also took a jab at Hillary Clinton, claiming her husband was “unsatisfied,” and crudely alleged that both Clinton and Kamala Harris advanced politically through sexual favors.

A Familiar Controversy

While Trump’s supporters often dismiss such comments as “off-the-cuff humor,” critics argue that his behavior consistently undermines women’s credibility and normalizes sexism in public life.

For many, this latest episode is simply another reminder of how gendered disrespect continues to shape Trump’s public persona.
