Donald Trump stands by his post despite the furious backlash he has received for his ‘tribute’ message to the late actor and director.
Donald Trump has been condemned on social media for a tribute to Rob Reiner and his wife that some people have called ‘disgusting’.
Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele, 68, were found deceased at their Los Angeles home on Sunday (December 14).
Police said they responded to calls to provide medical aid to a property at around 3.38pm local time, where they then found the couple.
Authorities said that they launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of the two.
Following this, LASD Inmate Center records revealed that Reiner’s son, 32-year-old Nick Reiner had been arrested and charged on Monday.
He is in custody on a $4 million bail.

While many people took to social media to offer tributes to the director and actor, Trump’s message sparked outrage.
Trump initially said on Truth Social: “A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood.
“Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.
“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

In a press conference on Monday at the White House, reporters asked Trump whether he stood by his statement despite the condemnation he received.
He noted that he did, and went on to say that he was not a fan of Reiner.
Speaking at the White House, Trump said: “Well I wasn’t a fan of his at all.
“He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned, he knew it was false, in fact it is the exact opposite –that I was a friend of Russia, that I was controlled by Russia.
“You know it was the Russia hoax, he was one of the people behind it.
“I think he hurt himself career-wise, so he became like a deranged person, Trump derangement syndrome.

“So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all in any way shape or form, I thought he was very bad for our country.”
People on social media reiterated their displeasure at Trump’s comments.
One X user wrote: “This is disgusting and shameful. A new low for Trump. Attacking Rob Reiner after his murder.”
Another wrote: “Trump doubles down on being a piece of sh**. This time in the Oval Office. No class. No character. Just malignant narcissism.”
And another added: “Before the weeks out, Trump will proclaim ‘It was a perfect statement.’ Or he’ll claim he never said it, it’s a Democrat hoax. Equal chances of both.”
