Trump Claims Liberal Gov. Wes Moore Privately Praised Him as the ‘Greatest President of My Lifetime.’ Moore Responds with 3 Letters

Trump Claims Moore Called Him “Greatest President”

President Donald Trump claimed on Monday, August 25, that Maryland Governor Wes Moore privately told him he is “the greatest president” in Moore’s lifetime. Trump said the comment occurred during the 2024 Army-Navy football game in Landover, Md.

“There, Moore approached me,” Trump said. “He hugged me, shook my hand, and said, ‘Sir, you are the greatest president in my lifetime. You’re doing a fantastic job. I just want to shake your hand.’”

Moore Denies the Claim

Governor Moore quickly refuted Trump’s statement. On X, he reposted the video of Trump’s claim and added, “lol.” He followed up with another post: “Keep telling yourself that, Mr. President.”

Moore also spoke to WBAL Radio, emphasizing his integrity. “I spent the six months before the last election explaining why I did not think he should be the next president,” Moore said. “That conversation never happened. I mean, it never happened.”

His senior communications adviser, Carter Elliott IV, told The Washington Post, “Moore and the president met, but the governor did not say that.”

Baltimore Dispute Intensifies

The claims come amid rising tensions over Baltimore’s crime rate. On August 24, Trump threatened to send military forces to the city and labeled it “out of control” on Truth Social. Moore responded by inviting Trump to walk Baltimore streets with him and city officials. Trump declined, saying, “Clean up your crime, and I’ll walk with you.”

This exchange follows Trump’s earlier deployment of the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police and the National Guard to combat crime and address homelessness. Since August 11, when Trump declared a “public safety emergency,” troops have flooded the city, prompting increased arrests and protests over ICE checkpoints and stricter curfew rules for minors.

Trump Defends Efforts

During a Thursday, August 21, interview with conservative radio host Todd Starnes, Trump praised the deployments. “The National Guard is great. They’ve done a fantastic job,” he said, claiming the efforts have already achieved results.
