Three Band Members, And Four Others Die In Tragic Plane Crash

A plane crash on July 26, took the lives of three band members of the Nelons, A Southern gospel group out of Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to the group, there were four others on the plane, who also died. There was an assistant, the pilot, and the pilot’s wife. The plane crashed in Wyoming around 3 p.m. EST. The group was traveling to the  Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska.

Per wsbtv, Gaither Management Group, the managing group of the gospel band, said none of the seven people on the plane survived the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident.

Gaither Management said “Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler and their assistant, Melodi Hodges, along with the pilot, Larry Haynie and his wife, Melissa” died Friday afternoon.

Per a statement from Gaither, Autumn Nelon and her spouse were in Seattle on Friday, and were not on the plane that crashed. They were notified of the tragedy in Seattle.

 

Gaither Management said “They were brought to the hotel where artists were gathered with Bill and Gloria Gaither to pray, sing and embrace them in their grief, pledging to support them in whatever needs arise. Autumn and Jamie will return home for now to Kelly’s brother, Todd Nelon and his wife, Rhonda, to begin the hard tasks that lie ahead. Please keep them, the Kistler family, the Haynie family and the family of Melodi Hodges in your prayers.”

The Campbell County officials in Wyoming, said first responders responded to a plane crash that occurred north of Gillette, Wyoming on the afternoon of July 26. The fire department was able to successfully put out a wildland fire, which was caused by the plane crash.

The Nelons have captivated audiences with their rich music and heartfelt performances. They have produced numerous beloved songs over the years. Among their most popular tracks are “Come Morning,” which offers hope and assurance in times of trouble, and “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown,” an upbeat song about the promise of heaven. Their rendition of “O For a Thousand Tongues” and the classic hymn “Oh For a Thousand Tongues to Sing” showed  their ability to add life into timeless songs. “The Sun’s Coming Up” and “I’m Going Home with Jesus” are both uplifting anthems of faith and perseverance. While songs like  “I’d Do It All Over Again” and “Family Chain” reflect on commitment and family. “Greater Things” inspires listeners to believe in greater possibilities, and “Lord, I Need You” is a powerful prayer to God.
