Pope Leo Sets Canonization Date for First Millennial Saint
Carlo Acutis to Be Declared a Saint on September 7
Pope Leo XIV has officially announced that Carlo Acutis, a teen known as “God’s influencer,” will become the first saint of the Millennial generation. His canonization is set for September 7, just weeks away.
Canonization Delayed After Pope Francis’ Passing
The announcement came during Pope Leo’s first public consistory earlier this month. Originally, the Vatican scheduled Acutis’ canonization for April 27, but postponed it after Pope Francis d*ed on April 21.
Alongside Acutis, Pope Leo approved seven other sainthood declarations, including one for Pier Giorgio Frassati, who d*ed at 24 while caring for the sick.
A Short Life of Deep Faith and Service
Born in London and raised in Milan, Acutis devoted his life to the Catholic Church. He received his first communion at seven and consistently donated to the poor.
As he grew older, he spent evenings cooking meals for the homeless. His love for technology and the Church earned him the nickname “God’s influencer.”
Sadly, he d*ed in 2006 at age 15 from leukemia. Yet his legacy of faith continued to grow.
Two Miracles Confirmed by the Vatican
The Vatican credited Acutis with two miracles, solidifying his path to sainthood.
Miracle #1: Healing a Brazilian Toddler
A two-year-old boy in Brazil, Matheus Vianna, suffered from a d**dly congenital disorder called annular pancreas. His mother turned to the Church for hope.
Father Marcelo Tenorio, who was blessing Acutis’ body at the time, touched a piece of the teen’s clothing to the boy and prayed for healing. After that moment, Vianna fully recovered.
Miracle #2: Recovery After a Brain Hemorrhage
In another case, Costa Rican woman Valeria Valverde miraculously survived a severe brain hemo**hage after a car cr*sh.
Her mother prayed at Acutis’ tomb. Soon after, Valverde regained consciousness, and doctors declared the hemo**hage completely gone.
Preserved and Honored in Italy
Acutis’ body has remained preserved for 19 years. Today, he rests in the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Assisi, Italy, where thousands have come to pay tribute.
A Generation’s First Saint
After nearly two decades of global admiration and growing devotion, Carlo Acutis will officially become the first Millennial saint.
With this canonization, Pope Leo XIV not only honors a teen’s unwavering faith but also inspires a new generation of Catholics.
