Plastic surgery is often used for small physical enhancements, but Jessica Alves—formerly known as Rodrigo Alves—has taken it to extraordinary lengths. Known to many as the “Human Barbie,” Jessica has undergone more than 100 cosmetic procedures in her lifelong pursuit of physical transformation.
Jessica was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1983 to a Brazilian mother and a British father. From an early age, she felt different.
As a child, she preferred playing with dolls, dressing in her mother’s clothes, and displaying a feminine personality. However, growing up in a conservative environment, she suppressed those feelings and instead tried to fit in by presenting herself as a very masculine man.
In her twenties, Jessica began having cosmetic surgery to change her appearance. At the time, as Rodrigo, she aimed to look like a male “Ken doll.” Her procedures included nose jobs, fillers, pec implants, fake abs, and even having four ribs removed. But even after these dramatic changes, she felt incomplete and unhappy.
In early 2020, Jessica publicly came out as transgender. She explained that she had always felt like Barbie on the inside and was finally ready to live as her true self. After beginning hormone therapy, she changed her name to Jessica and started the gender transition process. This included breast implants, facial feminization surgery, Adam’s apple removal, hip and buttock fillers, and eventually, gender confirmation surgery.

Jessica’s journey hasn’t been without pain and risk. She’s experienced multiple complications—especially with her nose, which has been operated on over 11 times. At one point, she suffered from necrosis and breathing difficulties, requiring emergency treatment. Doctors warned her about the risks of further surgery, but Jessica was determined to continue.
Despite all this, Jessica says she has no regrets. In recent years, she has remained in the public eye through reality TV appearances, music, and social media. She now has over a million followers on Instagram, where she shares her lifestyle, fashion, and personal updates.

In 2024, Jessica underwent her fifth facelift in Turkey after dissolving old fillers that left her with sagging skin. The “ponytail facelift” removed over four inches of loose skin and tightened her face and neck. She described her skin as feeling like rubber before the procedure and was relieved by the results, even though the recovery was intense.

Now 41 years old and living in London, Jessica says she finally feels aligned with who she really is. Although her transformation has sparked public debate, she insists that her surgeries were necessary for her well-being. “I have to go through all of this to become the person I truly am,” she said.
Despite all the challenges—health risks, criticism, and ongoing procedures—Jessica Alves appears happy and confident, embracing her identity and encouraging others to be true to themselves.
