I haven’t slept well since. Research led me to fragments of an old legend about a hidden order guarding something called The Veil. The locket, according to those whispers, is a key. The deer, messengers. I don’t know why I was chosen or what waits beyond the next sign—but I know this wasn’t coincidence.
