Teenager Vaping the Equivalent of 50 Cigarettes a Day Receives Shocking Diagnosis After Coughing Up ‘Pints’ of Blood

**Jayden Richardson**, now **17**, began **vaping at just 12 years old** in an attempt to fit in with his group of friends. His habit quickly escalated, reaching an **equivalent of 50 cigarettes a day**—a level of consumption that would have **severe consequences**.

A Frightening Medical Emergency

Jayden’s **health took a terrifying turn** when he started **coughing up pints of blood** on the **last day of his holiday in Turkey**. What began as a **minor chest pain** quickly turned into a **medical emergency**, forcing his family to rush him to the **hospital upon returning home**.

Initially, **doctors suspected a stomach ulcer**, according to his mother, **Elita**. She assumed that Jayden’s **diet during the trip**, which included greasy foods and kebabs, might have been to blame. However, after undergoing an **endoscopy**, doctors determined that his **severe lung damage** was actually caused by his **excessive vaping habit**.

A Hard Lesson, But a Relapse

Doctors strongly **advised Jayden to quit vaping immediately**, warning him that his **lung damage** could worsen if he continued. At first, **he was determined to quit**, promising himself he would never use an **e-cigarette again**. However, he **relapsed on his birthday in January**, picking up a vape once more.

Tragically, his **symptoms returned** almost immediately.

Awaiting a CT Scan and Hoping for a Permanent Change

Jayden is now **awaiting a CT scan to assess the extent of his lung damage. He hopes that the **ban on disposable vapes in June 2025 will help him permanently quit**. Reflecting on his experience, he shared:

“I was terrified. I never thought vaping could cause all this.”

Recalling the first time he noticed symptoms, he said:

“It started in Turkey. The night before, I had a bit of chest pain but didn’t think much of it. I woke up the next morning, had a quick go on my vape, and then felt like I had a chesty cough.”

As he continued coughing, he was shocked to see blood in his spit. The sight left him in complete panic.

A Cautionary Tale for Young Vapers

Jayden’s story serves as a **stark warning** about the **dangers of vaping**, particularly for young people who may not **realize the long-term effects**. He now deeply **regrets ever picking up a vape**, saying:

**“If I could go back to that moment when I first started, I’d tell myself ‘never to touch one of them.’”**

He hopes that **by sharing his experience**, others will think twice before making the **same mistake**.
