Actress Sofia Vergara was supposed to be a presenter at the Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14th, but she had to cancel at the last minute due to a medical emergency. The star actually ended up in the emergency room.
In a post on Instagram, Vergara shared the news that she was at the ER instead of the Emmys. She wrote in the caption, “Didnt make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER sorry I had to cancel! Craziest eye allergie right before getting in the car!”
Her post included a closeup photo of her face with her left eye looking like she could barely even open it. The post also included two videos of her in the hospital. In one, she’s lying on a hospital bed pretending to cry, and in the other, she is running water over her eye.
USA Today reports that the award Vergara was supposed to present was the lead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie award. In her absence, the award was presented by Brittany Snow and Malin Åkerman, and the winner was actor Stephen Graham for his role in “Adolescence.”
The biggest winner of the night was the Apple TV+ series “The Studio.” “The Penguin,” “Adolescene,” and “The Pitt” also took home multiple awards.

While Vergara wasn’t nominated for any awards at this ceremony, she has been nominated in the past for her roles on the shows “Modern Family” and “Griselda.” While she has not won an award, “Modern Family” is tied with “Frasier” for the show with the most wins for best comedy series. Both shows have won five times.
