Sisters Found Holding Hands After Being Swept Away In Texas Floods

Over the July 4th weekend, deadly flash floods swept through Kerrville, Texas, after a month’s worth of rain fell in just hours, causing the Guadalupe River to rise 26 feet. More than 100 people have d**d, with many still missing. Among the victims were 13-year-old Blair and 11-year-old Brooke Harber, who were staying with their grandparents, Mike and Charlene, along the river.

Their aunt, Jennifer Harber, confirmed the girls were found 15 miles away, still holding hands. Their grandparents remain missing.

The girls’ school, St. Rita Catholic in Dallas, mourned their loss: “Even in their last moments, they held tightly to each other… a powerful symbol of their lasting bond.”

The girls’ parents, RJ and Annie Harber, had tried to reach them when the flooding began but were blocked by rising water. A GoFundMe page created by Jennifer Harber is raising support for the grieving family.

Before their tragic passing, the Harber sisters sent texts to their parents that revealed their fear and the desperate situation they were in due to the flooding. One message from Blair to her father RJ said:

“Daddy, please come get us. We are stuck and scared.”

Another text expressed their hope to be rescued soon despite the dangerous conditions. These messages reflected their distress and the urgency of the moment as floodwaters rose and trapped them.

The texts have been shared by the family and authorities to highlight the suddenness and severity of the flooding that overwhelmed them, as well as the deep love and concern between the sisters and their parents in those final moments.
