Road Trip to Visit Husband Ends in Tragedy for Mom and Kids

Tragedy on I-95: Mother and Four Children Ki**ed in Fiery Crash

A devastating car cr*sh in Georgia has left a husband grieving the unimaginable loss of his entire family — his wife and four children — as two communities mourn across state lines.

Family Road Trip Ends in Tragedy

On Sunday, April 6, 2025, at around 6 a.m., 27-year-old Reagan Dougan was driving her children — a 9-year-old boy, a 4-year-old boy, a 2-year-old girl, and a 3-month-old baby — along I-95 South in McIntosh County, Georgia. They were on their way from Raleigh, North Carolina to meet her husband, Christian Dougan, in Florida.

But the family never made it.

Authorities say Reagan’s rented Jeep Cherokee slammed into the rear of a white Infiniti sedan at high speed. The SUV hit the center guardrail and burst into flames, ki**ing Reagan and all four children at the scene.

SUV Rented for the Trip

Reagan had rented the vehicle for the drive. Georgia State Trooper Christopher Ashdown told the Associated Press that a witness saw the collision moments before the fire erupted. The other driver survived and was taken to a hospital.

The cr*sh forced officials to shut down the highway for four hours. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the collision.

“She Was a Loving and Kind Person”

The tragic news sent shockwaves through both Raleigh, where the family recently moved, and Florida, where Christian awaited their arrival.

Family friend Christopher “Jonesy” Butler-Jones spoke tearfully to reporters. “I’m still in sh0ck. Christian lost his entire family. It’s heart-wrenching.”

He described Reagan as a devoted mom whose greatest dream was to raise a happy family. “Her kids were everything to her,” he said. “She always saw the bright side. If you were upset, you could call her, and she’d lift you up.”

Neighbors Reflect on the Family’s Warmth

Back in Raleigh, neighbors remember the Dougans fondly — despite only knowing them briefly. Jason Flores, a neighbor, shared, “She always smiled. The kids were always happy. Their home felt joyful.”

Children often played in the yard, climbing trees and laughing. Though they’d only lived there a short time, their presence was unforgettable.

GoFundMe Launched for Final Farewell

Christian’s stepmother, Sarah Stoltman, launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral costs and bring the family’s remains to Florida. The goal is $120,000, and over $88,000 had been raised at the time of writing.

“Christian is working with family to begin mourning these five beautiful souls,” she wrote. “The financial burden of moving them to their final resting place is overwhelming.”

The fundraiser will help give Reagan and her children a dignified farewell.

Tributes Pour In from Friends and Strangers

On social media, grief poured in from all corners. Photographer Katrina Cusatis, who took maternity photos of the Dougan family last fall, posted:

“My heart is completely broken. Their love and joy were unforgettable.”

Reagan’s friend Cecily Corinne Borquez shared a childhood photo and wrote:

“You were the life of the party and one in a million. I’ll never understand how this could happen. You’ll never be forgotten.”

A Legacy of Love and Light

The Dougan family’s loss has left a deep impact on everyone who knew them. Friends say Reagan brought warmth, joy, and unwavering love to all who crossed her path.

In the words of her friend Jonesy:

“There was a very comforting feeling around her. She helped me see there’s still light at the end of the tunnel.”

As the community mourns, many find comfort in the love Reagan and her children shared — a light that will continue to shine in the hearts they touched.
