Now, it’s happened again, as Reese has shared a new Christmas photo with her daughter, which some say must be her “twin.”

Reese Witherspoon welcomed daughter Ava Phillipe on September 9, 1999, with then-husband Ryan Philippe. In an interview with Jay Leno, Reese explained the story behind the name ‘Ava’ and how she and Ryan came up with it.

“My daughter’s name is Ava… [like] Ava Gardner, because to me she was the only woman who could break Sinatra. So the idea of that name to me is very classy and strong.”

While having her now ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, by her side, Witherspoon later revealed the challenges she faced as a mother. The actress initially tried to handle it on her own, but soon realized the sleepless nights were taking a toll on her health.

”I did not have a lot of support with my first baby, and I learned really early, like, this is not going to work,” she told People Magazine. ”I was lucky enough to have money saved and I didn’t have to work, but it’s just not a one-person job.”

Now, Reese Witherspoon’s eldest child has grown up. Ava Philippe studied at UC Berkeley and has wandered in her mother’s footsteps. The 26-year-old has several acting credits to her name, including appearances in the 2024 television series Doctor Odyssey and, earlier this year, in Ransom Canyon.

Reese and Ava share a tight mother-daughter bond. They often appear in pictures together – and fans can’t unsee one thing about it. On December 21, Reese Witherspoon shared a Christmas photo with her lookalike daughter, and many fans gushed that they look like twins.

“Woah I had to double take bc I didn’t know which one was you! So beautiful – both of you,” one user wrote.

“My goodness, you ladies are twins!” another added, while a third stated, “Reese Witherspoon’s kid looks more like Reese Witherspoon than Reese Witherspoon looked when Reese Witherspoon was a young Reese Witherspoon!”

This isn’t the first time fans have reacted to how alike Reese and Ava Philippe look. Last January, during Paris Fashion Week, the Legally Blonde actress shared pictures with Ava. Both wearing matching black outfits in a Parisian café, users commented that they are clones.

“Your daughter is your clone and it’s kind of unfair for the rest of society,” one person shared, with another adding, “It’s giving TWINS!!!!!”

Another said: “I mean, I can tell who Reese is… Yet I can’t spot the difference.”
