Tiger Woods Hits the Links with Donald Trump
As Tiger Woods gears up for his return to the PGA Tour, he spent some time on the course with former President Donald Trump in South Florida. The two teed off at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach on Sunday morning, reports confirmed by the White House. This outing comes just days before Woods competes at Torrey Pines, marking his first official PGA Tour event since The Open.
Upcoming Events and Schedule
Later that evening, Trump will attend the Super Bowl in New Orleans, adding to his busy schedule. Meanwhile, Woods, who has eight career victories at Torrey Pines—including his memorable 2008 U.S. Open win—will head to San Diego for next week’s Genesis Invitational. Originally scheduled for Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, the tournament moved to Torrey’s South Course due to the Palisades fire. Woods hasn’t completed a full 72-hole tournament since the 2023 Masters.

PGA Tour Negotiations and Woods’ Involvement
Woods’ name has also surfaced in recent PGA Tour discussions, especially surrounding negotiations with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Last week, Trump met with PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and player director Adam Scott in Washington, D.C., to discuss the future of professional golf. Though Woods’ attendance wasn’t mentioned in the official statement, flight-tracking data indicated his private jet landed at Dulles Airport on Monday night before heading to Florida early the next morning.
The PGA Tour later expressed gratitude for Trump’s leadership in bringing the negotiations closer to resolution. “We are thankful that [Trump’s] leadership has brought us closer to a final deal, paving the way for reunification of men’s professional golf,” the statement read.
Personal Loss for Tiger Woods
Amid his busy schedule, Woods shared some sad news. On Tuesday, he announced the passing of his mother, Kultida Woods, at the age of 80. In an emotional statement, Woods said, “My mom was a force of nature all her own. Her spirit was simply irrefutable. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter—without her, none of my personal achievements would have been possible.”
Trump, a longtime friend of Woods, expressed his condolences on social media. “I was just informed that Tiger Woods’ great mother, Kultida, passed away—she has gone onto greener fairways!” Trump wrote. “Kultida Woods was an amazing influence on Tiger and gave him much of his strength and brilliance. Melania and I send our love and prayers to Tiger and his incredible family!”
A Deep Friendship
Trump and Woods share a well-documented friendship, having played golf together numerous times. In 2019, Trump awarded Woods the Presidential Medal of Freedom, recognizing his extraordinary contributions to the sport.
