Many people are expressing the same sentiment about Pope Leo’s unexpected electronics addition, which he wore to his first mass as the newly elected pope.

Robert Francis Prevost, who will be known as Pope Leo XIV, was named the new head of the Catholic Church just last week (8 May).

Pope Francis is largely considered to be the most progressive pope the Catholic Church has ever had.

He may have even carried the Church one step further into the future, even if the recently elected Pope Leo is expected to closely follow in his footsteps.

Online viewers all noticed an intriguing feature from the photos taken during his first mass, which was held the day after the announcement on May 9.

For his first mass delivery, Leo appeared to be sporting an Apple Watch, which is undoubtedly unprecedented for a pope.

It’s safe to assume that certain Catholics were huge fans of the technological device, even if it’s unclear what kind of watch he was sporting.

According to a joke posted on Instagram, “We as Catholics know what quality is.”

One individual thought that this action resolved the continuing dispute between Android and Apple customers.

They were saying, “Apple = heaven, Android = hell; If the Pope said, it’s the law.”

The comment, “Good to know he’s Team Apple,” was made by another.

“Gotta close those rings baby,” jokingly said a fourth.

However, some Catholics opposed the adoption of technology.

One said, “From my understanding from my time as a Catholic, the priests aren’t supposed to have flashy or excessive possessions.”

“Not that I personally care about it of course, but that might be why others care about it.”

Others, however, drew attention to the health advantages of wearing an Apple Watch.

“Those watches save lives,” someone else said.

“They alert people of irregular heart patterns. Not sure if he has heart issues, but I’m not mad about him having the watch.”

Another agreed, and added, “My priest also wears one. It was a gift to him. It also monitors his health.”

Although you simply need to be older than 35 to become pope, the majority of eligible cardinals are well into old age, and many have had to cope with a higher risk of health issues, so this does seem like a crucial factor.

A ‘loss of strength of mind and body’ was the final reason for Pope Benedict’s resignation in 2013, at the age of 85, due to health concerns. Pope Francis took his place.

Pope Francis himself spent five weeks in the hospital receiving treatment for pneumonia just months before he passed away.

Cardinal Kevin Ferrell of the Vatican released the following statement announcing his passing: “The father’s residence was visited by Francis, the bishop of Rome, at 7:35 a.m. today, April 21.

“His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of his church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with faithfulness, courage, and universal love, especially for the poorest and most marginalised.”
