Pope Francis’s latest appearance in public leaves a lasting impression.

The World Wakes to Sad News

This morning, people around the globe woke up to heartbreaking news—Pope Francis has passed away. On Easter Monday, the Vatican officially announced his death.

Crowds Flocked to Rome for Easter

Thousands had traveled to Rome to celebrate Easter at the Vatican. Many were present on Sunday, when Pope Francis made his final public appearance.

A Brief Appearance on Easter Sunday

Despite his poor health, the Pope appeared briefly at St. Peter’s Square.
Due to a difficult battle with double pneumonia, he couldn’t lead the Mass himself. Instead, Cardinal Angelo Comastri conducted the service before a massive crowd.

Final Blessing from the Balcony

A Powerful Easter Message

Usually, the Pope delivers the traditional “Urbi et Orbi” address.
This year, a Vatican archbishop delivered it while Pope Francis watched from a wheelchair.

Still, the Pope’s final message struck a deep chord.

He spoke of rising antisemitism and condemned the tragic situation in Gaza.
“I think of the people of Gaza, and its Christian community in particular, where the terrible conflict continues to cause death and destruction…” he said.

He also called for freedom of religion, thought, and expression, emphasizing that true peace depends on respecting others’ beliefs.

“There can be no peace without freedom of religion, freedom of thought, freedom of expression and respect for the views of others.”

A Humble Farewell

After the address, the Pope greeted the crowd from an open-top vehicle.
It was a simple but heartfelt farewell.

His Final Days

Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88.
He had recently left Rome’s Gemelli Hospital after a month-long stay.
Doctors continued urging rest as he recovered from a life-threatening illness.

Due to his condition, he missed most Holy Week events—including the Stations of the CrossEaster Vigil, and foot-washing ritual.
Still, on Saturday, he made a brief appearance to greet visitors.

A Legacy That Lives On

Pope Francis leaves behind a legacy filled with compassion, humility, and strength.
He will be remembered as a man of unwavering faith and integrity.
