If you want to be very popular as a television personality, you need to stand out in some way or another. One person who does this very well is Piers Morgan.
Over the years, Piers Morgan has taken a stand and been very critical of many individuals, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He often stands out because he has such an opinion on society and everything that happens in it, so the former Good Morning Britain presenter is well known.
One of the things that Piers Morgan is especially known for is his opinion. It doesn’t matter what he is talking about, it always seems as if he is going to be controversial but one thing that he really has an issue with are vegans.
On one show in particular, Piers did something that most people found shocking, but those same people also found it to be hilarious. Even those who usually hated him were applauding his efforts that day.
It happened in an interview when a movement was taking place in the UK in 2022. In September of that year, many people emptied the milk shelves in grocery stores, and one of those campaigners targeted Salt Bae’s London Eatery.
Morgan was upset with the issue, so he invited Nathan McGovern, a spokesman for Animal Rebellion, to have a chat with him on his show. Morgan started out by saying: “I think you all look pretty pasty-faced and unhealthy to me.
“What I don’t do is I don’t go running into vegan restaurants and start screaming abuse at you all and have to be pulled out by people because you’re ruining everyone’s fun.”
McGovern had an answer but not before he said that Morgan had given him an ‘absolute blinder’. He then spoke about precision fermentation, which produces specific ingredients using microorganisms.
According to McGovern, the process of precision fermentation is capable of creating animal protein using a much lower carbon footprint and only a ‘fraction of the land.’
Morgan came back with: “But I like eating meat.”
When McGovern was asked what he eats, he says that he enjoys seasonal British fruits and vegetables and he also enjoys supporting British farmers. This only led to more debate, with Meghan saying that their efforts were unsuccessful.
He said: ‘None of you make me want to change my mind.’ That is when he took things to the next level.
Suddenly, some plates appeared as they were brought out for the host. He then sat there and began eating steak in front of the vegan activist.
The host said: “Here’s my point, I love eating steak. I’m not going to stop eating steak. And the very last thing on earth that will stop me eating steak is people like you with your pasty faces running into our restaurants and telling us to stop eating steak.”
McGovern responded: “That is absolutely fine, Piers.”
Morgan finished things up, saying: “If you want to win an argument, you just can’t be annoying all the time.”
