Phoenix sports outlet fires NBA reporter who labeled Charlie Kirk as an “evil man.

Phoenix Sports Fires NBA Reporter Over Controversial Social Media Posts

An Arizona-based sports outlet has fired its lead Phoenix Suns reporter after he posted a series of social media messages celebrating the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The Tragic Event

Kirk was killed during an outdoor rally on Wednesday at a Utah college. A long-range rifle shot struck him in the neck, killing him instantly.

Controversial Reactions

PHNX Sports writer Gerald Bourguet quickly took to X to comment on the attack. He accused Kirk of spreading hate “on a daily basis” and added:

“Truly don’t care if you think it’s insensitive or poor timing to decline to respect an evil man who died. Too many of you are more concerned with being polite and appearing to be good people rather than showing some damn backbone and standing on principle to condemn hate.”

Bourguet described himself as the lead Suns writer for PHNX Sports and seemed unbothered by the backlash at first.

Backlash and Consequences

However, the response was swift. By Thursday, PHNX Sports announced via X that it had “parted ways” with Bourguet. While the outlet offered no further details, the message was clear: Bourguet was fired.
