Peter Doocy and his wife’s wedding anniversary was more special than ever when it was also the day they welcomed their son into the world

Fox News' Hillary Vaughn, Peter Doocy welcome second child after 30-hour labor

When Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy reflects on life’s most unforgettable milestones, this spring gave him one that will be nearly impossible to top. On April 16, 2025 — his and wife Hillary Vaughn’s fourth wedding anniversary — the couple welcomed their second child, a son named George Jack Doocy, after a grueling 30-hour labor.

Doocy, known for his sharp exchanges with presidents in the briefing room, shifted seamlessly from questions at the podium to celebrating life’s sweetest moments. “Thirty hours in labor, on our anniversary, and out came George,” he told People. “Thank you, son, for being the reason I’ll never forget to get your mom a card when I’m grabbing a birthday card for you.”

For Doocy, the timing was as symbolic as it was serendipitous. He and Vaughn, a Fox Business reporter, had tied the knot in 2021 in a quiet ceremony attended by family. Four years later, on the very day they exchanged vows, they were exchanging tears of joy over their newborn.

George weighed in at a healthy 7 lbs., 6 oz., and his arrival instantly transformed the Doocy household. Vaughn shared that the little boy’s big sister, two-year-old Bridget Blake, was already stepping into her role with pride. “She was the first person to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her baby brother,” Vaughn said, recalling the tender hospital moment. “We didn’t even prompt her—she just knew this was his special day too.”

The couple’s first child, Bridget, was born in February 2023. Doocy has spoken fondly of watching his parents, longtime Fox host Steve Doocy and wife Kathy, meet their granddaughter for the first time. “It was one of the most special moments of my life,” Peter said at the time. “Seeing my parents as grandparents made me see them in a whole new way.” That sentiment, now doubled with George’s arrival, seems to anchor the young father’s new perspective.

Parenthood, Doocy has admitted, comes with its humbling moments too. Vaughn once joked about the unpredictable challenges of being a “boy mom” — particularly during diaper changes. But the joy far outweighs the chaos. “The house feels so much fuller, in every sense,” Doocy shared. “I’ll come home from the White House and Bridget’s tugging on my sleeve, George is crying, Hillary’s smiling at me—it’s the kind of noise you never want to live without.”

The Fox reporter’s famous father, Steve, couldn’t hide his pride either. “Being a grandfather is the best promotion I’ve ever had,” Steve Doocy quipped on Fox & Friends when Bridget was born, and now with George, the sentiment has only deepened. The family has described how Bridget excitedly welcomed her new brother, holding him with careful hands and announcing to visitors, “This is MY baby.”

For Peter and Hillary, George’s birthday — forever linked to their anniversary — has already become a symbol of resilience, love, and timing that feels almost too perfect to script. Vaughn, reflecting on those long hours of labor, called it “the hardest and best anniversary gift we could have ever given each other.”

From navigating late nights with two young children to watching Bridget’s bond with her baby brother grow, the Doocys are embracing the chaos of this new chapter. As Peter put it with a grin, “Covering politics keeps me on my toes. But honestly? Parenthood is tougher — and so much better.”
