People stunned to discover how few days Melania has spent at the White House with Trump since January

People Stunned by Melania’s Absence from the White House

Many are shocked to learn how little time Melania Trump has spent at the White House since her husband’s inauguration.

Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20. While he recently crossed the 100-day mark in office, Melania has barely been seen.

First Lady Keeps a Low Profile

The 55-year-old former model has stayed out of the spotlight. She skipped nearly all campaign events and avoided her husband’s court appearances.

Recently, she made two brief public appearances: one at Pope Francis’ funeral and another at the White House Easter Egg Roll.

In March, she gave a rare speech urging lawmakers to address “revenge porn” and AI-generated intimate images. She appeared again on May 8 to unveil a stamp honoring Barbara Bush and attend a military moms’ ceremony.

Where Has She Been?

Despite these appearances, people continue to ask: Where is Melania?

According to The New York Times, she has visited the White House for less than 14 of her husband’s 108 days in office. Some reports suggest even that number may be “generous.”

Trump Isn’t Staying Put Either

Melania’s absence may not be as controversial as it seems. Her husband hasn’t spent much time at the White House either.

NBC News reports Trump spent at least 40 days away from the presidential residence, often staying at his properties like Mar-a-Lago or Trump National Doral. Out of 14 weekends, he spent 12 at his own resorts—mostly golfing in West Palm Beach or Jupiter, Florida.

Life at the White House: Then vs. Now

Historically, presidents and their families lived full-time at the White House.

It has been more than just a home—it’s hosted weddings, proms, and playful moments. From FDR’s grandkids’ sandbox to Kennedy-era trampolines, the building once bustled with family life.

But Melania breaks that tradition. She reportedly lives at Trump Tower in New York, where Barron resides while attending college.

Melania Opens Up About the White House

Melania has voiced her hesitation about moving back. In a Fox & Friends interview, she admitted that living in the White House was “challenging” the first time.

“But this time, I have everything,” she said. “I already packed. I selected the furniture. It’s very different.” She added that Barron would “come and visit.”

Her Role and Perspective

Melania also mentioned a lack of support during her “Be Best” campaign in Trump’s first term. Still, she hopes to expand it.

“I gave him my advice. Sometimes he listens. Sometimes he doesn’t—and that’s okay,” she shared.

When asked about her future plans, she said:

“I will be in the White House. And, you know, when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach.”

She concluded by saying:

“My first priority is to be a mom, a first lady, and a wife. Once we are in on January 20, you serve the country. Maybe some see me as just the president’s wife—but I stand on my own two feet. I have my own thoughts. I don’t always agree with him—and that’s okay.”
