People can’t believe JD Vance split the National Championship trophy — and right in front of Trump.

JD Vance Fumbles Trophy During White House Visit

Vice President JD Vance made headlines after mishandling the National Championship Football trophy. The moment unfolded on March 14, during Ohio State University’s visit to the White House.

The Trophy Breaks in Two

While lifting the trophy, Vance accidentally split it in half. A video shared online shows him grabbing the trophy with both hands. Seconds later, the top detaches. Fortunately, someone nearby catches the upper piece, while the base falls to the floor.

Vance scrambles to pick it up, awkwardly trying to reassemble it. Meanwhile, onlookers react with gasps and laughter. Donald Trump, just a few feet away, seems unaware. He continues smiling for photos, clutching a football helmet.

Vance Responds

Later that day, Vance addressed the incident on Twitter. Sharing the video, he joked:

“I didn’t want anyone after Ohio State to get the trophy, so I decided to break it.”
