If there is one thing we know about the political climate these days, it’s the fact that it can get quite heated. That doesn’t mean that there is not occasionally an opportunity for humor.
One of the more difficult areas in the political arena these days is the connection between Canada and the United States. As the political powers continue to push and shove, citizens are going to feel the issues on both sides of the border.
Now, there is a café in Canada that has come up with a new sandwich, and it is a new viral sensation. The sandwich is known as the ‘Trump sandwich’ and the ingredients are going to tickle your funny bone.
This post became viral as the two nations are now involved in the trade war and things are getting heated. It all got started on February 1 when Pres. Donald Trump signed an executive order associated with tariffs.
The tariff is considered ‘catastrophic’ by some and it is not limited to Canada. It also affects Mexico and China. The big issue seems to be the poisonous drugs that are coming into the United States from those borders.
25% tariffs were placed on goods by Trump that were imported from both Mexico and Canada. China received a 10% tariff. Trump then declared a national emergency under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to give it some teeth.
Things have gotten worse, and now Trump has threatened to hit the dairy farmers in Canada with a 241% tariff on exports to the United States. On the other side, the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, is threatening to increase energy bills for those that are covered near the border.
Although a lot of arguing is taking place among the powers that be, it is the residents in Canada and the United States that are going to feel the biggest impact. Now the post, which was originally put up in 2016 has gone viral again.
It read: “#TrumpSandwich. Funny. But also sad. Forget about debating on substance- *this* is the state of US political discourse today.”
The restaurants board read: “TRUMP SANDWICH – WHITE BREAD – Full of BALONEY – W/ RUSSIAN DRESSING AND A SMALL PICKLE.”
In the middle of such a tense situation, it’s nice to see that people still have a sense of humor. In fact, some people who even claim that they voted for Trump also found the humor in this unusual sandwich.
