Outrage erupts over new Renee Good shooting footage when people notice an unexpected detail

New Video Sparks Outrage Over Fatal ICE Shooting

The deadly shooting of a Minnesota mother by federal immigration officers is fueling nationwide debate. Newly released footage raises serious questions about the events in the final seconds before gunfire erupted.

The Incident

Renee Nicole Good, 37, a mother of three, was killed Wednesday in Minneapolis during a confrontation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Federal officials claimed she posed a violent threat, alleging she used her SUV as a weapon. The Department of Homeland Security framed the encounter as a form of “domestic terrorism,” a label later echoed by former President Donald Trump.

However, video circulating widely on social media tells a different story. Critics argue the footage contradicts the government’s account. The clip shows officers surrounding Good’s vehicle as one agent attempts to open the driver’s side door. Moments later, Good tries to drive away.

What the Footage Shows

Viewers quickly noticed a critical detail: the SUV’s front tires point away from the officer, not toward him. As the vehicle moves backward, it lightly grazes the officer without knocking him down. Within seconds, an agent fires through the windshield, followed by additional shots through the driver’s side window while the SUV continues forward. The vehicle travels roughly 100 feet before hitting a parked car. The entire encounter unfolds in under 10 seconds.

Public Outcry

The public reacted immediately. Online commenters and activists argue the video shows fear, not intent to harm. Many claim officers used deadly force out of frustration as Good tried to escape.

Elected officials also criticized the shooting. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called it a “public murder,” noting the video shows a woman attempting to flee. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey demanded ICE leave the city and dismissed self-defense claims as “nonsense” after reviewing the footage himself.

Family and Friends Speak

Good’s family pushed back against the federal narrative. Her mother, Donna Ganger, described her daughter as compassionate, gentle, and devoted to caring for others. She said Good was likely terrified during the encounter.

Friends and former teachers remembered Good as a creative spirit — a poet and writer who spread kindness wherever she went. She had no criminal record beyond a minor traffic violation and was born in Colorado, making her a U.S. citizen. Just hours before her death, she had dropped off her youngest child at school. The family had recently moved to Minneapolis from Kansas City.

Federal Response

Vice President JD Vance stated the ICE agent involved will not face criminal charges. He insisted the officer has “absolute immunity” and acted within the law. Vance also criticized Minnesota officials for questioning the federal investigation, calling their objections “preposterous.”

A Broader Debate

The crash site now hosts flowers and handwritten signs. The case has become a flashpoint in debates over immigration enforcement, police accountability, and the limits of federal power. With investigations ongoing and public trust shaken, Renee Nicole Good’s shooting remains at the center of national attention.
