Trump’s Flagpole Ceremony Sparks Outrage After Immigration Remark
President Donald Trump celebrated two new flagpoles at the White House—but his comments quickly overshadowed the event.
A Grand Unveiling Turns Political
On June 18, Trump unveiled two towering 88-foot flagpoles on the North and South Lawns, calling them a personal gift to the American people.
“These are the most magnificent poles made,” he said, highlighting their rust-proof design and internal ropes.
He took to social media to boast, “Hopefully, they will proudly stand at both sides of the White House for many years to come!”
A Press Conference Goes Off Script
The ceremony quickly took a turn when Trump responded to a question about immigration enforcement.
“We’re taking them out by the thousands,” he declared, referring to undocumented immigrants. “Murderers, drug dealers, people from insane asylums.”
Then, Trump abruptly shifted his attention to the construction workers standing behind him.
A Question That Sparked Backlash
Looking at the crew in hard hats, Trump asked, “Any illegal immigrants?”
He continued, half-jokingly, “They’ll be checking you… Your whole life will be destroyed because of this press conference.”
While laughing, he added, “Don’t worry. I’ll be right behind you. Far behind you.”
A Pattern of Controversial Moments
This isn’t Trump’s first inflammatory comment in recent days.
Just earlier, he stunned Juventus soccer players by ranting about potential military action against Iran—leaving even seasoned athletes visibly uncomfortable.
