A Moment of Loss and Pause
Our deepest sympathies are with Sandra Bullock and her loved ones as they cope with the heartbreaking loss of her partner, Bryan Randall, who passed away in August 2023 after a battle with ALS.
In March 2022, Sandra announced she would step away from acting for a while. She explained that her work in front of the camera “needs to take a pause… until I don’t feel like I feel now when I’m in front of a camera.”
She added: “I want to be at home.”
Focusing On Family
At that time, Sandra was clear she would give priority to her children, Louis Bardem and Laila Bardem, and to her home life. In an interview she said: “I take my job very seriously… And I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family.”
She admitted she felt “so burnt out. I’m so tired.”
A New Chapter in Her Career
Meanwhile, a major project marks her return. The sequel to the 1998 cult‑classic film Practical Magic is confirmed, with Sandra and Nicole Kidman returning as their original characters.
The sequel, titled Practical Magic 2, is scheduled for release on September 18, 2026.
Healing and Moving Forward
Sandra’s decision to step back from acting came before Bryan’s passing. Yet the break allowed her space for healing, for family focus, and for re‑evaluation of what matters.
Now, she is poised to re‑enter the spotlight with a meaningful project. She appears to be moving forward – professionally and personally – on her own terms.
Looking Ahead
As Sandra readies herself for this next chapter, she remains grounded in the values she emphasised during her hiatus: presence, family, authenticity. Her return with Practical Magic 2 provides a tangible creative milestone.
While she did not publicly set a timeline for exploring new relationships, her focus clearly lies in what brings stability and fulfilment.
