I was prepared for a peaceful journey when I settled in the middle for the lengthy journey from London to New York. However, I was unaware that the next eight hours would be the worst of my life due to a woman named Karen.

She was continually whining, kicking, and elbowing people, so I assumed she was trying to win an award for being the most unpleasant passenger.

I attempted to ignore Karen, but she insisted on making a mess, repeatedly pressing the call button, and asking to be relocated along with the woman sitting next to me. When the flight attendants noticed what she was doing, they attempted to speak with her, but she refused.

The flight attendants disliked Karen and the other passengers became irate with her as the journey continued because of her more erratic behavior. I was starting to feel extremely bad when an odd thing occurred.

The captain announced over the speaker that there was a special guest on board as we began to descend.
Karen felt like the center of attention, so she stood up and moved to the front of the cabin. Though she was unaware of it, the captain had other plans.

He took her back to her spot with a smile and a nod, announcing to everyone that she was the “special guest” in 42C. Karen’s face flushed red with embarrassment as the entire cabin laughed and clapped.

I knew Karen had finally had enough, and I couldn’t help but smile as we stepped off the plane. I was happy to see the skipper make a cunning play that completely reversed the problem.
