Strange Noises Shake the House
Lately, unusual events had been happening in our home. It started with faint sounds — rustling and scratching from inside the walls. At first, we blamed the neighbors or the old house. But the noises grew louder, especially in the early morning.
The Source Revealed
One day, I pressed my ear to the wall in the guest bedroom. I felt a slight vibration, as if something alive was moving inside.
“Let’s tear down the wall,” my husband said. “I’m tired of this noise. We were planning to renovate anyway.”
I didn’t argue.
The Shocking Discovery
My husband grabbed an axe and struck the wall. With every blow, the rumbling inside intensified. I huddled in a corner, my heart racing.
Finally, a section of the wall crumbled. We froze in terror. All this time, we had been sleeping just a few meters from this nightmare.
Later, we discovered the source: a massive wasp nest.
Understanding the Danger
Wasps often choose warm, sheltered places to build nests. They settle in attics, abandoned buildings, or even inside walls.
Their colonies grow quickly. In just one season, a nest can host several thousand wasps.
The danger isn’t only in their painful stings. Wasps’ venom can trigger severe allergic reactions, even anaphylactic shock. This is especially risky for children or anyone allergic.
Living on the Edge
We were stunned. We had shared our home with this hidden colony all along. Had the nest grown larger, the wasps could have broken through the wall and overrun the house.
From that day, we never underestimate the hidden dangers lurking inside old walls.
