I was used to his excuses. As Lily walked down the aisle, stunning in her gown, I swallowed my mixed emotions. I was happy for her. Then came the text message under it: “Meet me at 5. Don’t try to act smart or you’ll face consequences. – Josh.”
The ceremony blurred around me. The priest’s voice broke through: “If anyone objects to this union, speak now…”
I rose and walked to the altar.
“Adam, you need to see this,” I said, holding up the phone.
